In the wake of the BJP-led alliance's substantial victory in the Assam Assembly elections, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma delivered a pointed critique of Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera, stating that the people of Assam had effectively countered Khera's allegations made during the campaign. Sarma referred to the election outcome as a 'historic and emotional moment' and attributed the success to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who he claimed have transformed Assam's image since 2016. He emphasized that the BJP is now seen as the sole party capable of safeguarding Assamese identity while promoting development. Sarma noted that the BJP alliance surpassed the 100-seat mark, benefiting from widespread public support across communities, including sections of Assamese Muslims.
