The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced the recall of over 255,000 Vornado tower heaters due to safety concerns after multiple reports of overheating and fires. The recalled units, sold at Costco and other retailers, can experience a fan blade detachment from the motor shaft, which may lead to overheating and potential ignition. Vornado has documented 32 overheating incidents, including 8 fires and one case of smoke inhalation. The heaters, identified as the Vornado SRTH small room tower heater, were available for purchase between August 2013 and January 2017 for prices ranging from $40 to $50. The CPSC emphasizes the importance of ceasing use of these heaters immediately and has instructed consumers to reach out to the Vornado Recall Team at 888-240-2768 for further assistance. The heaters were manufactured in China and were also sold at retailers such as Kohl’s, Bed Bath & Beyond, and ACE Hardware, as well as online at Vornado.com and Amazon.com. Both Costco and the CPSC are urging consumers to take this warning seriously to prevent potential fire hazards.
