The Parents Association of Andhra Pradesh (PAAP) has called on the Central and State governments to transition from traditional ‘pen and paper’ exams to ‘computer-based testing (CBT)’ for all future assessments, including the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and the Engineering Agricultural and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAPCET). In a letter to Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan, PAAP highlighted the recurring issue of paper leaks during the examination process, citing recent incidents as part of a broader pattern of systemic failures. NEET aspirant Ch. Dheenuka from Vijayawada expressed frustration over the impact of the recent leak on students' futures. PAAP president S. Narahari noted that over 58,000 students from Andhra Pradesh participated in NEET-UG 2026, with 22.75 lakh students registered nationwide. Parents have invested between ₹2 lakh to ₹5 lakh per student, leading to a total expenditure of ₹1,500-3,000 crore in Andhra Pradesh alone. PAAP is also advocating for high-security standards in upcoming exams and the implementation of technical safeguards such as encrypted question banks and real-time monitoring.
