TS Sivagnanam (retired), the former Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court, has resigned from his role as the head of the Appellate Tribunal in West Bengal, which was tasked with addressing voter name deletions during the special intensive revision process. In his resignation letter, he cited personal reasons for stepping down. This decision comes shortly after the West Bengal Assembly elections, which concluded on May 4, where polling was notably peaceful and voter turnout was unprecedented. The Election Commission of India has since relieved special observers Subrata Gupta and NK Mishra from their duties, acknowledging their roles in the successful election process. However, re-polling will be held in the Falta Assembly constituency due to reported electoral malpractices on April 29, with results to be declared on May 24.
