'Patriot', directed by Mahesh Narayanan and starring Mammootty and Mohanlal, has achieved a global box office collection of over ₹71 crore within its first five days, despite facing challenges at the domestic box office. The film opened strongly with ₹10 crore on its first day but saw a decline in subsequent days, earning ₹1.50 crore on Tuesday from 1826 shows. In contrast, its overseas earnings have been more robust, with a total of ₹46.15 crore from international markets, indicating the stars' significant appeal abroad. While the film's domestic total stands at ₹24.85 crore, it is expected to cross the ₹25 crore mark soon. This performance is notable as it surpasses the total earnings of their previous collaboration, 'Twenty:20', which grossed ₹32 crore globally in 2008. The film features a strong ensemble cast, including Fahadh Faasil and Nayanthara, and revolves around a conspiracy involving surveillance, with Mammootty playing a scientific advisor and Mohanlal as an ex-army officer. Following 'Patriot', Mohanlal is set to release 'Drishyam 3' on May 21.
