The motion was initiated after six Rajya Sabha MPs from Punjab defected from AAP to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), raising concerns within the party. Mann defended his leadership, stating that recent rumors had caused confusion and that the confidence motion was necessary to clarify the situation. He criticized the opposition for their absence during the vote, interpreting it as tacit approval of his government. Punjab BJP chief Sunil Jakhar echoed these calls, emphasizing the importance of integrity in the assembly. In response, AAP leaders dismissed the allegations as baseless, asserting that the opposition was undermining the dignity of the assembly.
