The Delhi Parents Association (DPA) has voiced strong objections to the Central Board of Secondary Education's (CBSE) implementation of the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system for evaluating Class 12 answer sheets. DPA president Aprajita Gautam criticized the board for rushing the rollout without adequate preparation or training for teachers, leading to significant discrepancies in student results. Gautam highlighted that the trial run was too brief and involved a small sample of teachers, preventing them from properly familiarizing themselves with the new system. As a result, many students have reported issues with their evaluations. The CBSE, however, maintains that the OSM system improves transparency and accuracy in marking. As of June 6, the online portal for verification and re-evaluation had received over 56,000 applications, but concerns remain regarding access for students from government schools and rural areas. The DPA has called for an inquiry into the evaluation process, particularly regarding the qualifications of the evaluators involved. In light of these controversies, key CBSE officials have been removed from their positions.
