Astell & Kern has expanded its A&ultima line with the launch of the SP4000T portable music player, set to debut at the Vienna High End Show from June 4-7. This innovative player merges cutting-edge digital audio with classic analogue technology through its use of vacuum tube amplification. It features independent dual-tube structures for left and right channels, enhancing audio fidelity. The SP4000T is equipped with dual AK4499EX DACs and dedicated signal processors, promising a deep and refined listening experience. Users can choose from three sound modes: 'Triode Mode' for warmth, 'Pentode Mode' for dynamic impact, and 'Ultra Linear Mode' for a blend of both. It supports high-resolution audio formats, with PCM capabilities up to 32-bit/768kHz and DSD512, and offers 256GB of internal memory expandable to 1.5TB. Bluetooth support includes aptX Adaptive and LDAC codecs, along with a Bluetooth DAC mode. Pricing details are yet to be confirmed, but it is expected to be on the higher end, following the established SP4000 model.
