Shah emphasized that the origins of the dispute trace back to the British colonial era, necessitating UK involvement. He confirmed that Nepal has initiated diplomatic communications with India and China, seeking to resolve the issue through 'table talks.' Shah recognized the complexities of the border situation, admitting that both Nepal and India have encroached on each other's territories. The contested region, covering about 335 square kilometers, remains a flashpoint in relations among the three nations. India has reiterated its administrative control over the Lipulekh Pass and dismissed Nepal's territorial claims as unsupported by historical evidence. The border dispute has further escalated with China's recent actions, including the release of a map that includes disputed areas within Indian territory. Despite these tensions, all parties have expressed a commitment to resolving differences through diplomatic means.
