In a significant operation against ticket black marketing, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) arrested Chandrashekhar, a canteen employee at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, for allegedly selling over 100 Indian Premier League (IPL) tickets at inflated prices. The tickets were reportedly sold for amounts between ₹15,000 and ₹19,000, far exceeding their original prices. The investigation revealed that Chandrashekhar was selling tickets for matches involving the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), as well as RCB versus Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). He was found to have tickets from various seating categories and was directly contacting buyers via phone for the illegal sales. Police investigations traced the source of the tickets to Ganesh Parikshit, a member of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), who is currently on the run. The CCB is also probing corporate entities that may have assisted in the illegal resale of tickets. Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh stated that efforts to curb ticket black marketing have been ongoing since the IPL began, and further arrests are anticipated as the investigation progresses.
