Christina Emanuel, a 41-year-old mother from Wavertree, Liverpool, has been spared jail after assaulting another woman in a pub beer garden on July 30, 2022. The attack occurred in front of the victim's children, leaving her with a concussion and two black eyes. Emanuel approached the victim to discuss a mutual ex-partner but escalated to violence when the victim declined to engage. CCTV footage captured Emanuel striking the victim from behind and repeatedly punching her while her boyfriend, Joshua Balmer, prevented bystanders from intervening. At Liverpool Crown Court, Judge Andrew Menary KC acknowledged Emanuel's difficult past and her genuine remorse but emphasized the serious impact of her actions on the victim and her children. Emanuel was sentenced to a 12-month prison term, suspended for 18 months, and ordered to complete 150 hours of unpaid community service, along with a rehabilitation requirement. A restraining order was also placed on her, preventing contact with the victim for two years.
