Lidl is set to implement significant price reductions on over 1,000 essential household items, including staples like milk, fresh meat, and bread, as part of a £250 million investment strategy aimed at enhancing customer value. The price cuts include mature cheddar reduced from £2.79 to £2.49 and four beef Quarter pounders down from £3.49 to £2.89. Richard Bourns, Lidl's Chief Commercial Officer, emphasized the need for affordable pricing as customers face ongoing budget pressures. Lidl's market share has reached 8.6%, reflecting an 8.8% sales increase in the 12 weeks leading to May 17. This growth indicates a strong customer preference for Lidl's value-driven offerings.
