A 31-year-old restaurateur from Krishna Nagar, New Delhi, was arrested by the Delhi Police's crime branch for allegedly being a key player in a transnational arms trafficking and terror module. The arrest follows the apprehension of 12 individuals linked to a network allegedly backed by Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and operated by fugitive Shahbaz Ansari. The police recovered a semi-automatic Beretta pistol and five cartridges from the suspect, who is accused of acting as a 'settlement facilitator' between extortionists and wealthy individuals. His connections include ties to gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Rohit Godara, and he is implicated in the murder of utensil businessman Sunil Jain in 2024. Additionally, the restaurateur reportedly met with fugitive gangster Rashid alias Cablewala in Dubai and has been involved in online gambling, which further linked him to extortion activities. The police have charged him under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
