Fraser Health has announced that the emergency department at Mission Memorial Hospital in Mission, British Columbia, will temporarily halt services due to physician staffing challenges. This interruption will take place from 5 p.m. on Sunday until 8 a.m. on Monday. During this period, patients who are already waiting to see a doctor at 5 p.m. will be attended to before the shift concludes at 11 p.m. Nurses will continue to be present in the emergency department to provide basic care and assist with the transfer of patients who may require urgent medical attention at other facilities. Fraser Health is actively working with B.C. Emergency Health Services to ensure that patients needing a higher level of care are directed to appropriate hospitals. Residents experiencing potentially life-threatening symptoms, such as chest pain, difficulty breathing, or severe bleeding, are advised to call 911 for immediate transport to the nearest suitable facility.
