A 35-year-old man tragically lost his life after a shark attack while spearfishing off the coast of Michaelmas Island in Western Australia on Saturday morning. This incident marks the third fatal shark attack in the country within a span of three weeks. The attack occurred while the man was fishing with family near Albany, approximately 241 miles south of Perth. Despite being taken ashore and treated by paramedics, he succumbed to his injuries. Witnesses reported seeing a 14.8-foot shark of an unknown species in the vicinity of the attack. Just ten days prior, another fatality occurred when a 38-year-old man was attacked near Perth, followed by a 39-year-old man's death on May 24 at the Great Barrier Reef. While Australia experiences about 20 shark attacks annually, the majority are not fatal, according to conservation data.
