Airfares from Ahmedabad to Kolkata have sharply increased, with one-way ticket prices reaching ₹17,000-22,000 around election dates. This surge is attributed to a combination of factors including election travel, the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) matches, and peak holiday demand. Disha Basu, a professional from Ahmedabad, expressed her frustration over the high costs, stating she paid over ₹20,000 for a one-way ticket booked just ten days in advance. The fare hikes are not isolated to this route; other major destinations from Ahmedabad have also seen price increases. For example, round-trip economy fares to Bengaluru are around ₹9,000, while tickets to Delhi are close to ₹8,800. Flights to Chandigarh are particularly steep at approximately ₹14,000. Manish Sharma, a travel expert, noted that multiple demand drivers have coincided, and the lack of sufficient capacity has led to higher fares, especially on weekends and high-demand days. This situation is complicating summer travel plans for many passengers.
