The Golmaal franchise has long been associated with chaos, comedy and box office success. Now, with Rohit Shetty gearing up for Golmaal 5, excitement around the film has only grown stronger, especially after Akshay Kumar was announced as part of the upcoming entertainer. However, fresh reports about the actor’s alleged remuneration have sparked major chatter online. According to IANS, Akshay Kumar is reportedly being paid between Rs 35 crore and Rs 40 crore for a short schedule of 18 to 22 days in Golmaal 5. The report further claimed that the amount is higher than Ajay Devgn’s upfront fee, as the latter has opted for a profit-sharing model as a producer. An insider was quoted as saying, “Akshay Kumar is shooting for 18-22 days, and he is getting around Rs 35-Rs 40 crores, which is more than Ajay Devgn’s upfront fees because he is on a profit-sharing basis.” Rohit Shetty’s Team Calls Fee Reports Baseless Soon after the reports surfaced, Rohit Shetty Picturez issued an official statement denying the claims. The team called the reports around Akshay’s fee “completely baseless, inaccurate, and purely speculative.” The statement read, “There have been several speculative reports doing the rounds regarding the commercials and remuneration associated with Golmaal 5, particularly in relation to Akshay Kumar’s fee for the film. We would like to categorically state that these claims are completely baseless, inaccurate, and purely speculative.” The makers further clarified that the film’s commercial details remain confidential and are not disclosed publicly by any core party associated with the project. They added, “Any numbers, figures, or financial details currently being reported are strictly rumours and untrue. We are making this film with a lot of love for all of you. All we request is your support in this journey.” Akshay Kumar On Joining Golmaal 5 Akshay Kumar’s entry into Golmaal 5 was first announced on Rohit Shetty’s birthday in March. His presence had been kept under wraps before the makers unveiled a behind-the-scenes video, in which the actor appeared in a new look, triggering fan theories around his character. Speaking to News18 earlier about joining the franchise, Akshay had said, “I’m happy that they think I was good enough to be a part of Golmaal. Ajay is the main hero. I’m not playing the main part. But what’s wrong with it? For me, it’s far more important what the film is setting out to achieve. If I like the story, I’ll do it.” He further added, “Mera role badhiya hai Golmaal mein, but Ajay’s the hero. I’ve no insecurity. Uski koi zaroorat nahi hai.” Golmaal 5 Cast While Akshay Kumar’s presence adds a fresh twist to the comedy universe, Golmaal 5 will also bring back the franchise’s core ensemble. Ajay Devgn returns as Gopal, along with Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade and Kunal Kemmu. Sharman Joshi is also reportedly back in the film. Recently, Rohit Shetty added to the nostalgia by sharing a video of Arshad Warsi and Sharman Joshi recreating their iconic race-car waving scene from the original film, nearly two decades later.
