In Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, a 27-year-old man named Anurag was arrested for impersonating another candidate during the Home Guard Enrollment Examination 2025. The examination, conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board, took place over three days from April 25 to April 27. Anurag was caught during the first shift on April 26 when the officer in charge noticed suspicious behavior during biometric verification. Upon investigation, it was revealed that he had also taken the exam the previous day for another candidate, Dharmendra Singh, at a different location. Following a written complaint, police filed charges against Anurag under various sections related to cheating and forgery, as well as the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024. He has been remanded in judicial custody.
