Khan noted that 'Thugs of Hindostan' shares a similar narrative structure with the classic film 'Sholay', where both stories revolve around a central character seeking revenge, supported by heroes. Despite its high expectations, 'Thugs of Hindostan' turned out to be one of Khan's biggest box office disappointments, largely due to significant script changes made during development, which he believes detracted from the original vision. Khan lamented that the film did not reflect the initial script written by Victor Acharya. Following 'Thugs', Aamir Khan's latest project was 'Sitaare Zameen Par', a sports comedy-drama released in June 2025, marking his comeback after the underwhelming performance of 'Laal Singh Chaddha'.
