In light of the ongoing heatwave, schools across Delhi are implementing precautionary measures as per the guidelines issued by the Directorate of Education (DoE) on April 21. These measures aim to ensure the safety and well-being of students during extreme temperatures. Schools are limiting outdoor activities, adjusting the timing of morning assemblies, and promoting hydration by introducing a water bell system to remind students to drink water regularly. Additionally, schools are encouraging parents to send seasonal fruits and have increased the number of drinking water taps to minimize waiting times. For instance, Jyoti Arora, principal of Mount Abu Public School in Rohini, confirmed that outdoor activity timings have been reduced and students are allowed to bring water bottles. Other schools, such as Venkateshwar Global School, are ensuring air conditioning units are regularly checked and that water arrangements are available in school buses. The Indian School has also installed green nets in waiting areas to provide shade for parents, further enhancing student comfort during this heatwave.
