The Rouse Avenue court in Delhi has reserved its order on a defamation complaint filed by Satyender Jain, a former Minister, against BJP MLA Karnail Singh. Jain's complaint stems from statements Singh allegedly made during a news interview on January 19, 2025, where he claimed that Jain was involved in corruption and had significant illicit wealth, including 37 kg of gold recovered from his residence and 1,100 acres of land. Jain contends these statements are defamatory and malicious. The court had initially taken cognizance of the complaint, but this was challenged by Singh, leading to the sessions court setting aside the cognizance order on April 30. Special Judge Jitendra Singh emphasized that the trial court must examine the exceptions raised by Singh's counsel regarding the statements made. Singh's defense claims his comments were based on a press release from the Enforcement Directorate and were made to inform the public during the assembly elections. The court is expected to announce its decision on May 29.
