Over the weekend, the United States military successfully shot down two Iranian one-way attack drones that posed a threat to international maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, according to a statement from US Central Command (CENTCOM). CENTCOM emphasized that American forces are prepared to defend against Iranian aggression. This incident follows a series of missile and drone attacks launched by Iran towards Kuwait, Bahrain, and the Strait of Hormuz, with CENTCOM reporting the interception of six ballistic missiles. Additionally, US forces had previously downed four Iranian drones in the same region. In response to these threats, the US military also targeted Iranian military radar installations located on Goruk and Qeshm Island. These military actions come amid ongoing negotiations between Washington and Tehran aimed at establishing a comprehensive agreement to enhance maritime security and facilitate the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz for international shipping, a critical passage for global trade.
