On May 20, 2023, anti-illegal drug operatives from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) conducted a successful buy-bust operation in Taytay, Rizal, resulting in the seizure of P3.4 million worth of shabu. The operation unfolded around 4:35 p.m. at a shopping mall's rooftop parking area, where undercover agents arrested three alleged traffickers identified by their aliases: Amir (39), Sohaile (43), and Naofil (29). Authorities recovered 500 grams of suspected shabu during the operation, which is classified as a significant quantity in the drug trade. In addition to the drugs, law enforcement officials confiscated two vehicles believed to be used in the illegal activities and a mobile phone, which will be analyzed for potential evidence of drug transactions. The suspects are categorized as high-value individuals (HVIs), typically involved in financing, trafficking, or manufacturing drugs. They are currently detained and will face charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 as investigations continue to uncover the source of the seized narcotics.
