During the swearing-in ceremony on Saturday at Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata, Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the crowd with a full bow, emphasizing that the people's blessings are the true strength of democracy. Suvendu Adhikari took oath as West Bengal's ninth chief minister, marking the BJP's first government in the state after winning 207 seats in the 2026 Assembly elections, thereby ending the Trinamool Congress's 15-year rule. The ceremony was attended by prominent BJP leaders including Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh, along with chief ministers from BJP-ruled states. Adhikari, who previously served as a senior leader in the Trinamool Congress, pledged to lead the new government through collective leadership. Alongside Adhikari, five BJP MLAs were sworn in as ministers, with Governor RN Ravi administering the oath.
