A recent study by researchers Kishore Dutta and Jyotshna Saikia from Handique Girls’ College has scientifically profiled the acoustic qualities of Zubeen Garg's humming, a sound cherished by many for its soothing and emotional resonance. The research highlights that Garg's humming is characterized by a low fundamental frequency, which contributes to its calming effect. Additionally, the presence of elevated jitter—small variations in pitch—adds a subtle vibrancy to the sound, enhancing its expressiveness. The study also notes significant differences in timbral features, making Garg's humming instantly recognizable and difficult to replicate. Published in The Journal of Voice, the findings illustrate how micro-acoustic precision and spectral balance contribute to the warmth and presence of his voice. Garg's wife, Garima Saikia Garg, emphasized that this research provides a scientific foundation to his title as the 'Humming King of the World,' bridging the gap between cultural popularity and empirical evidence.
