On June 7, the Delhi High Court dismissed four petitions requesting re-polling for the Bar Council of Delhi (BCD) elections conducted on February 21, 22, and 23. The petitions were previously rejected by the High Power Election Supervisory Committee. The court emphasized the need for transparency and integrity in the election process, issuing several directives to enhance the counting procedure. Vote counting will resume from the point it was paused, as per a Supreme Court order from May 18, 2026. The court mandated that all ballot papers currently stored in open baskets be transferred to secure, lockable boxes. Additionally, a high-resolution camera will be installed to ensure clear documentation of each ballot, and the counting process will be continuously recorded and live-streamed to candidates and their representatives. The court also ordered that the counting staff be verified to avoid any conflicts of interest, ensuring a fair and transparent electoral process.
