OpenAI announced on Monday that it has filed for an initial public offering (IPO), just a week after its competitor, Anthropic, did the same. The company stated on X that it has submitted a confidential S-1, although it has not yet decided on a timeline for the IPO. OpenAI's valuation reached $852 billion in March after securing $122 billion in funding to support its ambitions in artificial intelligence. This funding is aimed at developing advanced AI models and the extensive infrastructure needed for cloud computing. Anthropic, which filed for its IPO on June 1, was valued at $952 billion in its most recent funding round. As both companies prepare for their potential IPOs, they will follow SpaceX's trillion-dollar offering, scheduled for Friday. SpaceX, under Elon Musk, is also engaged in the AI sector through its xAI initiative, intensifying the competition in the rapidly evolving AI market.
