Brigham Young University (BYU) sophomore point guard Robert Wright III has decided to return for the upcoming season, providing a significant boost to the Cougars' roster. Wright, who was regarded as the best point guard in the transfer portal, averaged 18.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 4.6 assists last season, earning third-team All-Big 12 honors. His standout performances included scoring 30 points against Baylor and 39 points against Colorado in February, along with hitting a buzzer-beater 3-pointer to secure a comeback win against Clemson in the Jimmy V Classic. Wright's return is crucial for BYU, especially as they face the departure of key players such as AJ Dybantsa, the nation's leading scorer, and Richie Saunders, an All-Big 12 selection. To complement Wright, BYU is welcoming top-10 recruit Bruce Branch III and Kentucky transfer Collin Chandler, who was previously committed to BYU. Additionally, the Cougars have signed Syracuse transfer Tyler Betsey, who averaged 6.7 points last season, further enhancing their roster for the upcoming season.
