Mysuru is set to launch India's first full-length AI-assisted Kannada translation of the biography 'My Name Is Gauhar Jaan! The Life and Times Of A Musician' on Friday. Authored by historian Vikram Sampath, the book narrates the life of Gauhar Jaan, a legendary Hindustani classical musician who was the first woman in the Indian subcontinent to record her voice on a gramophone in 1902. The translation, developed using the TransLit technology from a Bengaluru-based start-up, achieved approximately 80% accuracy before human refinement, significantly speeding up the process from six months to three to four weeks. Mysore MP Yaduveer Wadiyar will officiate the launch, marking a pioneering moment in Indian publishing. The biography not only highlights Gauhar Jaan's illustrious career but also her struggles in later life, including her time spent in Mysuru, where she was welcomed as a state guest by Maharaja Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar. Sampath emphasized that the final Kannada version retains the original tone and literary quality, making it feel as though he wrote it in Kannada himself.
