Rescue operations are ongoing in central Laos, where two men remain trapped in a flooded cave after a group of local villagers was caught during a gold-seeking expedition on May 20. Five others were successfully rescued, with the last four emerging on Saturday evening. Australian diver Josh Richards, who is part of the rescue team, reported that the information provided by the rescued miners has been crucial in understanding the cave's structure. He mentioned the discovery of a vertical drop exceeding 100 meters, located near where the two missing men are believed to be. This finding has raised hopes for an alternative entry point, as the current access is prone to flooding. The situation mirrors the 2018 rescue of a Thai youth football team, with divers from that operation now assisting in Laos. Rescuers had been pumping water from the cave entrance, and the rescued miners were found in a narrow shaft approximately 300 meters from the cave mouth, suffering from hunger and chest pains.
