On May 13, 2026, Prakasam District Collector P. Raja Babu conducted a surprise inspection of sanitation management within the Ongole Municipal Corporation (OMC) limits. He directed officials to utilize unused vacant lands near Oota Cheruvu for community development. Expressing dissatisfaction with current sanitation practices, he called for improvements in waste management to enhance resident satisfaction. During his visit, he inspected the windrow composting unit at Kothavmamidipalem, which converts organic waste into fertilizer, and sought details from the managers. The collector also visited various municipal sites, including the garbage collection center and Gandhi Park, emphasizing the need for proper management and the timely completion of projects like the walking track and the Sulabh Complex near PVR School. OMC officials, including in-charge Commissioner Rambhupal Reddy and Municipal Engineer Esaiah, were present during the inspection.
