In Chandrapur district, Maharashtra, the forest department has ramped up efforts to capture four sub-adult cubs of a tigress implicated in the deaths of four women in Gunjewahi village. Following the capture of the tigress on Sunday, Chief Conservator of Forests RM Ramanujam reviewed the operation and met with the families of the victims, assuring them of ongoing support. A Rapid Response Team, led by veterinarian Dr. Ravikant Khobragade and sharpshooter Ajay Marathe, is actively searching for the cubs with the help of nearly 80 frontline staff. They have set up three live-monitoring cameras and 30 camera traps in the forest, along with live bait to aid in the search. To ensure community safety, residents are advised to stay alert and avoid venturing into the forest. Financial assistance of ₹25,000 has been provided to each affected family, with further compensation of ₹25 lakh approved per family, of which ₹10 lakh has already been disbursed by local MLA Vijay Wadettiwar.
