The Lucknow Electricity Supply Administration (LESA) is set to expand its underground power cabling initiative to address frequent power outages reported by traders and residents in various commercial and residential areas of Lucknow. Following the successful underground wiring project in Hazratganj, LESA plans to implement similar infrastructure in markets including Alambagh, Rajajipuram, Charbagh, and others. This expansion comes in response to demonstrations by local traders demanding a reliable power supply, especially during adverse weather conditions. LESA officials noted that underground cabling is more resilient to damage from storms and requires lower maintenance, leading to fewer outages. Additionally, compact transformers will be strategically installed to enhance the distribution network. Traders, such as Harjeet Singh from Alambagh, expressed optimism that this project will mitigate losses incurred from power cuts during peak business hours. Surveys are currently underway to prioritize areas for the project, which will be executed in phases to limit disruption to local traffic and commerce. Overall, LESA aims to significantly improve consumer satisfaction and reliability of power supply in Lucknow's busiest areas.
