Sribharat, the Member of Parliament for Visakhapatnam, stated that the establishment of the South Coast Railway Zone (SCoR) is on a fast track, following the recent issuance of the Gazette notification. He accused opposition parties of misunderstanding the complexities involved in the establishment process. Sribharat emphasized that the previous YSRCP government failed to make progress despite requests for land allocation from the central government. He explained that the Railway Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw, indicated that the bifurcation of railway zones is a technical process that requires careful handling to avoid future public issues. Full operations for the SCoR are set to commence on June 1. The MP highlighted that Andhra Pradesh has received ₹1.06 lakh crore (approximately $12.7 billion USD) in project support during the NDA government, with ongoing investments in infrastructure, including ₹10,000 crore (about $1.2 billion USD) for new railway lines.
