In a tragic incident on Saturday, two civilians were killed in an ambush by suspected militants in TM Kasom village, Ukhrul district, Manipur. The victims, identified as Chinaoshang Shokwungnao, a retired Army personnel from Tashar village, and Yaruingam Vashum from Kharasom village, were shot while traveling in a convoy from Imphal. Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh announced that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) will handle the investigation, emphasizing the need for peace among communities. Singh condemned the attack, which occurred shortly after he had appealed for dialogue between Kuki and Naga residents in the region.
