After his stunning 37-ball 103 for the Rajasthan Royals against Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2026, Brathwaite noted that Sooryavanshi should be nurtured gradually, similar to how Brian Lara was developed within the West Indies setup. He highlighted that Lara was allowed to grow alongside seasoned players like Viv Richards before stepping into international cricket. Brathwaite suggested that Sooryavanshi could benefit from learning from current Indian stars such as Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Suryakumar Yadav. Former India wicketkeeper Deep Dasgupta echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of balancing technical skills with mental resilience. With 357 runs in seven matches and a strike rate of 234.86, Sooryavanshi has already made a name for himself, even briefly holding the Orange Cap this season. Experts believe that with the right guidance, he could become a defining player in the IPL.
