After Lagerfeld's death in 2019, it was believed that Choupette would inherit a substantial fortune, with estimates reaching as high as £150 million. However, her caretaker, Françoise Caçote, revealed in an interview with The Atlantic that they have received 'absolutely nothing' from the inheritance. Caçote, who has been Choupette's primary caretaker, is currently working part-time to support the cat while also hiring lawyers to ensure that Lagerfeld's wishes are honored. She remains hopeful for a peaceful resolution regarding the inheritance. Caçote stresses that Choupette is happy and well cared for, living a life of luxury as Lagerfeld intended.
