The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has decided to hire at least 75% of sanitation workers locally to address rising complaints about sanitation inefficiency during the absence of migrant workers from Assam, who took leave to vote in their home elections. Mayor Sushma Kharkwal highlighted the need for improved accountability and monitoring of sanitation services, as 41% of the current workforce is from Assam.
