With the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections approaching in 2027, Khushbu Sundar (BJP vice president) has extended an open invitation to actor Vijay to join the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). In an interview, she referred to Vijay affectionately as her 'tambi' and expressed her personal regard for him, stating, 'It is up to him to decide if he wants to be with the NDA or not.' While acknowledging Vijay's popularity as 'the biggest star in Tamil Nadu,' Sundar cautioned that celebrity alone may not guarantee electoral success, drawing parallels to past political figures like MG Ramachandran. She also criticized the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) for its patriarchal leadership dynamics, questioning why Kanimozhi Karunanidhi is not being considered for the chief ministerial position. Sundar expressed confidence in the BJP-AIADMK alliance's prospects, dismissing exit polls as unreliable and calling for an end to dynastic politics in Tamil Nadu, which she claims is prevalent in both the DMK and the Indian National Congress. Furthermore, she defended the governance of former Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, asserting that Tamil Nadu performed better under his leadership.
