A tragic incident occurred on Thursday evening when a cruise boat capsized in the Bargi Dam area near Jabalpur city, Madhya Pradesh, resulting in the deaths of at least nine people, including a four-year-old child. The District Collector, Raghvendra Singh, stated that the tragedy was likely caused by a sudden storm and the shifting center of gravity as passengers moved between the upper and lower decks. The boat, which had a capacity of around 90 people, was carrying approximately 40 passengers at the time. Despite a weather advisory issued a day prior warning of winds reaching 40-50 km/h, the cruise commenced around 4:30 PM. Following the incident, the government took immediate action, terminating the services of the cruise pilot and suspending a manager for negligence. A departmental inquiry has been launched to investigate the causes of the accident and ensure compliance with safety regulations for future operations.
