There’s something oddly fascinating about watching a quiet film try to find its footing in the middle of louder, bigger theatrical releases. This weekend, all eyes are on a young romantic drama that arrived without massive buzz but is slowly attempting to build momentum through word-of-mouth and curiosity around its emotionally charged storyline. Chand Mera Dil, starring Lakshya and Ananya Panday, witnessed a modest rise in collections on its second day in theatres after opening to mixed audience reactions and lukewarm critical response on Friday. Despite the slow beginning, the film managed to register slight growth on Saturday, offering a small boost to its theatrical run. According to trade tracker Sacnilk, the film earned ₹3.65 crore on day two. The numbers are marginally better than its opening-day collection of ₹3 crore. With this, the film’s total India gross stands at ₹7.71 crore, while the India net collection has reached ₹6.65 crore so far. The film, featuring Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi, had collected ₹1.20 crore on day two earlier this month. The bigger test, however, now lies in the Sunday numbers. Trade analysts will be watching closely to see whether the film can show stronger growth and close its opening weekend on a respectable note. Produced by Dharma Productions and directed by Vivek Soni, the film follows two young people who meet during their college years in Hyderabad and fall in love. Their relationship takes an unexpected turn after an unplanned pregnancy, leading to marriage and eventually emotional strain within the relationship. As frustrations grow, one heated confrontation turns violent, becoming a major turning point in the narrative. A review by CNN-News18 Showsha reflected on the film’s emotionally chaotic tone and visual style. It read, “Much like marriages and relationships themselves, the film thrives on chaos and contradiction. Watch out for the final stretch between the protagonists. The lighting feels turbulent, the backdrop restless and several shots intentionally drift out of focus, creating a visual texture that mirrors the emotional instability of the characters.” The review further noted, “The film embraces the exhausting and intricate back-and-forth that defines intimate relationships. The protagonists repeatedly break down before each other – crying, screaming and emotionally unravelling – in sequences that feel messy, chaotic and deeply heartbreaking. What makes these moments land is that the actors appear completely unconcerned with looking aesthetically perfect on screen. They shed vanity and inhibition, surrendering fully to the vulnerability of the moment.”
