Anthropic has announced the expansion of its cyberdefense initiative, Project Glasswing, to 150 organizations across 15 countries, including India. The project aims to enhance cybersecurity in critical infrastructure sectors such as power, water, healthcare, and communications. Anthropic stated that many of the new partners are vendors that maintain codebases relied upon by various organizations, including government entities. The expansion follows discussions with the National Association of Software Companies (Nasscom) and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology in India. The initiative leverages the capabilities of Anthropic's AI model, Claude Mythos, which has already identified thousands of high-severity vulnerabilities in major operating systems. The company anticipates that several AI firms will soon release comparable models without adequate safeguards, highlighting the need for robust security measures. Anthropic aims to ensure that future AI capabilities are developed with strong protections to prevent misuse, acknowledging the high stakes involved in cybersecurity.
