Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan reviewed the ongoing wheat procurement process in his Vidisha Lok Sabha constituency, located in Madhya Pradesh, on Saturday. He emphasized the government's commitment to supporting farmers, stating that over 80% of them have completed slot bookings for wheat procurement. The procurement capacity at centers has been enhanced to 2,250 quintals per day, and additional weighing machines have been introduced. Chouhan reported that 1.99 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has already been procured from 36,442 farmers in Vidisha alone. He announced that the procurement target has been raised to 100 lakh metric tonnes with the Centre's approval. Chouhan also mentioned the establishment of a control room at collector offices to promptly address farmers' grievances. In addition to agricultural initiatives, he revealed plans for 'Mama Coaching Classes' to support students in education and employment, starting from May 10.
