Thailand has introduced the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV), a long-term visa designed to attract digital nomads, remote workers, freelancers, and wellness travelers from eligible countries, including India. This visa allows holders to stay in Thailand for up to five years with multiple entries, permitting stays of up to 180 days per entry, which can be extended. Applicants must demonstrate financial stability by showing at least 500,000 Thai Baht (approximately ₹14-15 lakh) in liquid assets. The DTV is unique as it includes eligibility for those participating in cultural and wellness activities, such as Muay Thai training or cooking courses, promoting Thailand’s soft power. However, visa holders are not allowed to work for Thai companies unless they obtain a separate work permit. The application process can be completed online or through authorized centers, requiring various documents including proof of income and health insurance.
