Filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh has recently received relief in a 10-year-long legal battle concerning allegations of plagiarism related to his film Kahaani 2. The case was filed by Umesh Prasad Mehta from Jharkhand, who claimed that Ghosh used his script for the film released in 2016. Ghosh described the experience as a 'nightmare', recalling how the case escalated unexpectedly, leading to a criminal charge against him. He stated that initially, he did not take the allegations seriously, but as the case progressed, it became increasingly daunting. The Screenwriters Association of India (SWA) reviewed both scripts and concluded that Mehta's claims lacked merit. Following this verdict, Ghosh presented it to the Supreme Court, which ultimately cleared him of all charges. Ghosh expressed relief at the conclusion of the case, emphasizing the emotional toll it had taken over the years.
