The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is gearing up for significant organizational changes in Uttar Pradesh as it prepares for the high-stakes 2027 assembly elections. This follows the party's recent success in West Bengal, where it breached the Trinamool Congress (TMC) stronghold. A new list of proposed changes for office-bearers has been finalized, with an official announcement expected after consultations with the central leadership and the oath-taking ceremonies of newly elected chief ministers in other states. Pankaj Chaudhary, who became the state president in December 2025, is keen to establish a new team to enhance the party's grassroots presence. The reshuffle will include replacing several vice-presidents, general secretaries, and regional presidents, while also aiming to maintain a balance of caste and regional representation. The BJP is particularly focused on regaining the support of the Kurmi community, which is vital for its electoral prospects in eastern Uttar Pradesh, especially after a decline in support observed during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
