On Wednesday in Chennai, the AIADMK party's internal factions appeared to reconcile after a significant meeting between senior leader SP Velumani and party general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami. Accompanied by approximately 13 MLAs, Velumani expressed his continued support for Palaniswami's leadership and emphasized that there was no division within the party, only differences of opinion that had been resolved. Following their meeting, the leaders, including former minister Dr C Vijayabaskar, met with Tamil Nadu assembly speaker JCD Prabhakar to submit a letter affirming their unity as a party. Vijayabaskar also retracted his earlier request for recognition as a party whip. This reconciliation comes after a period of tension, particularly following the AIADMK's performance in the April 23 Assembly election and subsequent support for the TVK government during a trust vote. Velumani noted that the party's strength in the assembly had decreased from 47 to 43 due to recent resignations and the disqualification of rebel MLAs.
