On May 30, over 1,000 alumni of Kumareshwara High School in Hangal gathered to celebrate the retirement of teacher CS Vastrad. The event, which showcased the traditional 'Guru–Shishya' relationship, featured a significant moment when alumnus Naveen Hulihalli presented Vastrad with a new Maruti Suzuki Swift as a token of gratitude. Hulihalli, who faced financial struggles during his education, credited Vastrad for his academic success and personal growth. He described Vastrad as not only a teacher but also a parental figure who provided support during difficult times. The ceremony was attended by Sri Gurusidda Rajyogindra Swami of Kumareshwar Mutt, trust officials, and many former students, all of whom shared fond memories of Vastrad's strict yet nurturing approach. Vastrad expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the gesture, emphasizing that witnessing the gathering of his students was the ultimate reward for his years of dedication to teaching.
