Nepal's Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal arrived in India on Friday for a two-day official visit, during which he is set to meet with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. This visit is significant as it marks the first high-level engagement from Prime Minister Balendra Shah's government since taking office in March 2026. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, emphasized that the discussions will focus on enhancing cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, connectivity, and border issues. The agenda also includes addressing recent comments from Nepal's Prime Minister regarding territorial disputes with India. Jaiswal confirmed that all relevant bilateral matters would be discussed, reinforcing the longstanding partnership between the two nations. Khanal's visit coincides with another diplomatic engagement, as Rabi Lamichhane, President of Nepal's Rastriya Swatantra Party, recently met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.
