Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will lay the foundation stone for a ₹5,400 crore solar manufacturing facility by ReNew Energy Global plc on April 23 in Anakapalli district near Visakhapatnam. This facility will focus on producing 6 gigawatts (GW) of solar ingots and wafers, contributing to India's ambitious target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030. The project is part of the state's Integrated Clean Energy Policy 2024, which aims to bolster domestic clean energy manufacturing and reduce import dependence. ReNew Energy has already committed around ₹82,000 crore in investments in Andhra Pradesh, reflecting a growing interest in the region's clean energy sector. Once operational, the facility is expected to create over 2,100 direct and indirect jobs, further enhancing industrial growth in the area. The groundbreaking ceremony will be attended by senior executives from ReNew, including founder and CEO Sumant Sinha, marking a significant step in India's transition to renewable energy and self-reliance.
